A Week in the Lower 48

Alcatraz
Alcatraz Island, San Francisco Bay

Until last week I had not left the state of Alaska since last year, having returned just before New Year's from the holidays. There were a number of things to take care of and people to visit, so I hopped a red eye to Northern California. Time really flies when back in the East Bay, and I didn't seem to have time for everything I wanted to do.

For my return trip, I was in the process of finding flights when it was brought to my attention the A's would be in Seattle when I was passing through, so I extended my stay there for a couple of days. I caught one game at Safeco, which really puts the Coliseum to shame, but it was unfortunately a loss for the A's, owing to a late inning fielding error.

I also took advantage of my time there to see what I had previously had too little time to explore. This included a return to the Museum of Flight, as well as exploring the northern neighborhoods a bit. Not a drop of rain fell during my time in the Pacific Northwest, and the trip was inspiring for spending further time there in the future.
